Project #6: Bowl-a-thon for the Greater YMCA’s Strong Kids’ Campaign

Project #5: Polar Bear Plunge to Benefit Special Olympics Kansas



The mission of Special Olympics Kansas is to empower individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports competitions, health and nutrition programs and leadership development. In 1968, Special Olympics Kansas sent a delegation of six (6) athletes to the Special Olympics Summer Games at Soldier Field in Chicago. Project #3: Greater Wichita YMCA – Strong Kids’ Campaign



Greater Wichita YMCA’s annual Strong Kids’ Campaign kicked off on January 1, 2011 with the 8th Annual Frosty 5K.  This annual campaign raises funds for the YMCA’s numerous programs that benefit low income families in the Wichita community including free water safety classes, job preparatory training, early learning child care centers, summer day camps, before and after school programs, and need-based program scholarships. Project #2: Salvation Army Angel Tree/Star of Hope



The Wichita Salvation Army Christmas Assistance Program provides support to families and individuals in need during the holiday season.  Through the Angel Tree Program, toys and general necessities are provided to children age fourteen (14) and under.  The Star of Hope offers help for senior citizens, handicapped individuals and those with special needs.  This year, requests for assistance to these programs alone were up over 30% from last year.
