Joe Dempewolf is an associate attorney in the litigation section of Klenda Austerman, LLC. With experience in an array of civil litigation matters, Joe understands the importance of approaching each matter on its own terms. Joe tenaciously places his client’s goals at the forefront of his representation.

As a litigator, Joe believes that alternative dispute resolution is a valuable and cost-effective tool. Through negotiation and mediation, Joe works to resolve matters outside of litigation. When it is apparent that alternative resolution isn’t viable, Joe isn’t afraid to suit up, step into the courtroom, and vigorously represent his clients.

Joe’s extensive experience in labor and employment law allows him to represent and navigate employers and employees through investigations before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Kansas Human Rights Commission, and the Missouri Commission on Human Rights. Joe’s experience extends to claims concerning age, sex, race, national origin, disability, retaliation, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, breach of contract, defamation, and non-compete agreements. Believing in the importance of sound employment practices, Joe Dempewolf dedicates part of his practice to counseling employers through various tough issues, including coaching and terminating employees, conducting employment investigations, and implementing sexual harassment prevention training and policies.

Outside of the office, Joe enjoys travelling for Magic the Gathering tournaments and spoiling his dog, Penny. With a strong passion for food and trying new things, Joe is constantly seeking new restaurants and new recipes recommendations.
